Meet
The Bombshells
The Bomb City Bombshells are a 501(c)3 operating in Amarillo, Texas. We began the effort to bring this team together back in 2017, and achieved a full non profit status in 2019!
We offer a space for those who love the sport of roller derby to come and participate in a team setting. Our team has people from many walks of life, from teachers and paramedics to hairstylists and stay at home parents. We are working toward building roller derby up in the Amarillo area, as well as helping in our community when and where we can!
We are always accepting new members, including skaters, refs, non skating officials, volunteers, and fans!
Meet the Members!
Allyson Funderland #42!
She is a skater with the Bomb City Bombshells of Amarillo, TX. Allyson has been with BCBS since its conception in 2017. Funderland loves to play as a blocker, although she has been gaining interest in jamming.
Off the track, Allyson is a paramedic in Amarillo. Funderland also volunteers for the Hope and Healing Place in Amarillo, which is an avenue in which people can deal with grief and loss.
As for personal favorites, Allyson Funderland loves blocking. Her favorite colors are purple and yellow, and she loves all food! #same. She is thrilled to see our derby team grow and prosper in Amarillo and hopes that she can help other women to realize their dreams and become their own superhero!
Booty Ka BOOM #008
A few things about her, she is a hairstylist and was born and raised in Dumas, Texas with big city dreams. Booty is currently engaged to her soul mate of five years! She is a unicorn, shiny and rare! Also just your every day one of a kind weirdo! Booty loves shopping and baking when she isn't wearing her skates. Her favorite color is purple and she LOVES Italian food!
Booty started derby right out of high school, playing for the Moore County Missfits of Dumas. It was something she had always wanted to try but she didn't get the chance until then! She played for 3.5 years, also helping to fill rosters for teams in the surrounding area such as CRD in Clovis, NM; RCRD in Canyon, TX; Down N' Derby in Plainview, TX; and the All-Star League under Route 66 Roller Derby right here in Amarillo!
Booty Kaboom retired from skating in 2015, but upon hearing about BCBS she just could not stay away! Her favorite position to play is blocker and her signature hit is called the KaBoom! Not many skaters can withstand the phenomenal force that is Booty KaBOOM!
Johnny Crash #27
She's a 27 year old mom to two beautiful girls and some very spoiled animals. Crash is a merchandiser for Red Bull, but worked as a barista for 5 years before that. In her spare time she likes to embroider and make creepy home decor for her online shop
Johnny found roller derby back in May of 2018 and it has been one of the greatest experiences of her life! Through her derby team she has found a second family, stress relief, and a fun way to stay active. Johnny Crash said she had zero self confidence before joining the team, but after months of hard work she can see herself improving and (hopefully) becoming a the jammer she really wants to be! She honestly does not know where she would be without the Bombshells and will always be glad that she screamed at Allyson Funderland in Startbucks to give her all of the info so that she could join!
Lady Homicide #99
She first gave derby a try back in 2012, skating for the Moore County Missfits of Dumas, Texas. She instantly fell in love!
She had never enjoyed team sports before, only participating in track and cross country throughout high school. Roller Derby changed that for Homicide! She got to know some amazing people, pushed herself to new limits, and found an incredibly fun way to stay in shape!
Homicide took a break from derby from 2015-2018 because she had moved to a very small town in Oklahoma, and the closest derby team was more than an hour away. Homicide and her now Husband moved back to their hometown of Dumas, TX and her love of skating resurfaced upon learning about this new team being put together here in Amarillo! She made the decision to rejoin and hasn't thought twice about it!
A few facts about Homicide: She married her best friend and soul mate on Halloween! She has a little chorckie named Xyla who just turned 9 years old! And she has 3 (THREE!) cats, Maya (f), Anni (m), and Lillith (m). They are each about 8 years old and all incredibly spoiled!
Homicide currently runs her own online shop selling jewelry and stationery items!
